Weekend agenda

We are locking down all the details for our wedding weekend, but wanted to give you a sense of some of the things that will be going on. With the exception of the wedding itself, all of these are optional.

Friday evening:
If you are at a loose-end on Friday evening, we’d love to see you for a drink or two at the Elephant and Castle pub at 424 Clay Street (at Battery). We’ll have some small nibbles on hand but if you’d like a full meal, the pub has restaurant service. We’ll plan to be there at 6:30pm and will be sticking around until at least 8:30. If you want recommendations of other nearby restaurants, drop us an email.

Since many of you do not know each other, we’ll employ a proven way to identify each other! Please bring a kitchen utensil of any form with you to the bar. That way, you’ll know that anyone else with a utensil is with us and is thus safe to talk to. (If you forget to pack a utensil, we recommend a quick scour of your hotel room – you’d be surprised what you can find next to the coffee machine!)

Saturday:
The wedding day, of course. The ceremony will start at 5pm sharp so you might want to plan to arrive a short while before to ensure you have prime seating.

We strongly encourage you to take public transit or a taxi to Stern Grove so you can safely join us for a drink or three at the reception following the ceremony. We will have a bus shuttle service running back to the downtown area starting at 10pm until after our bar closes at midnight. We’ll drop off at Club Quarters and Union Square from where it should be easy to grab a taxi to your hotel or home.

If you let us know where you’re staying, we can also try to hit other major locations where folks are residing.

A couple of other important notes:
· Please do not wear perfumes or colognes. Additionally, if at all possible, please refrain from using scented lotions, creams and aftershaves on the day of the wedding. One of our guests has a serious allergy to which we are trying to be considerate.
· Our wedding location does not allow smoking, either in the building or in the grounds around the building. We’re sorry to have to inform smokers that the nearest place to smoke legally is about 400 yards away from the reception.
· If you take public transit, expect a walk of about ¼ mile. Also, our wedding ceremony will be in a wooded grove so the ground is packed earth and not paved. We mention this in case it impacts your shoe choice.

Sunday:
The US Fleet will be in port in San Francisco on the weekend of our wedding, which means you’re likely to hear a few planes going over through the week. The culmination is an air-show on Sunday afternoon culminating in a display from the Blue Angels (the US version of the UK’s Red Arrows) will be flying over.

Given that the weather looks likely to be good, we are planning to head down to Crissy Field for a picnic and BBQ on Sunday afternoon.

We’ll be getting there at 11am to grab some space and you are welcome to join us anytime afterwards for as long as you’d like. The air-show starts at 12:30 and the Blue Angels display is at 4pm.

If you have chairs and lawn games, bring them. Also feel free to bring nibbles to share. And everyone should bring layers of clothes – San Francisco can get chilly later in the day, even if it seems warm when you leave your hotel, so be prepared.

We’ll post location and transit info on the website this weekend and will also have it available for you at the wedding.
